About TapBuff

Updated

Every utility has to send its customers a water quality report each year. Most are hard to read and go straight into the recycling. TapBuff rewrites them from EPA’s own data, so you can see what is in your water and what to do about it.

What TapBuff is

A data site, not a review site. TapBuff does not buy and test filters, and does not rank them by taste. It shows what federal data says is in a utility’s water, measures each result against the legal limit and the health goal, names the NSF/ANSI certification claim that addresses it, and adds up what a certified filter costs over five years.

Why it works this way

The question “which filter should I buy?” has no honest answer until you know what is in your water. The answer then follows from the certification, not from a brand or a star rating. That order, your water first and the product second, is the whole idea.

Who publishes it

TapBuff is a brand of Henry Labs LLC, a Texas company that also publishes PoolBuff, a guide for pool owners. TapBuff speaks as itself rather than through an author persona, because its authority is its sources, and every one is linked and dated.

How it is paid for

Through affiliate commissions on some filter links, once programs approve the site. No ads, no sponsored placements. The full disclosure.

What it is not

TapBuff is not affiliated with EPA, NSF, any certifier or any utility. It is not a laboratory and cannot test your water. It is published for readers in the United States.
